Adopted

Smith and Wesson were born to a husky who had been abandoned. She had become wild after several weeks.   A kind woman nearby would put food out for her, but the husky would never get close enough for her to touch.   Then the woman noticed that the husky had suddenly lost weight.   She would come get the food but would rush right back to the woods behind the womans home.

When the woman first saw the puppies frolicking around the edge of the woods, she understood what had happened.   The abandoned dog had given birth.

The woman knew that the puppies did not stand a chance if left in the woods to grow up wild.   She and her daughter waited until the puppies were six weeks old and pulled them out of the fallen tree where the mother husky had made her den.  They brought them to Lighthouse Animal Rescue.

The puppies, of course, were terrified of humans at first.   I spent many hours just holding them and talking softly to them.   They finally realized that not all humans were bad.

They were adopted together and now live in Boston Mass. with a wonderful "forever family."
